The mission of America's Second Harvest of South Georgia, Inc. is to end hunger in South Georgia. To create a means to easily and affordably access food for every person in South Georgia, To feed children and provide a safe environment for children to grow and learn, To provide the means to rescue and safely store all donated excess food in our region, and To ensure that every community that relies on the services of America's Second Harvest of South Georgia, Inc. is adequately assisted in the fight against hunger.

Make a Difference Day

What is Make A Difference Day?
Make A Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of helping others -- a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Everyone can participate. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October. The next event is Saturday, October 27, 2007.

Millions have participated. In 2003, 3 million people cared enough about their communities to volunteer on that day, accomplishing thousands of projects in hundreds of towns.

Your project can be as large or as small as you wish! Look around your community and see what needs to be done.

Who takes part in Make A Difference Day?
Anyone, young and old, individuals and groups, can carry out a volunteer project that helps others. It might be as ambitious as collecting truckloads of clothing for the homeless, or as personal as spending an afternoon helping an elderly neighbor or relative.

How to get involved:
America's Second Harvest of South Georgia is proud to bring Make a Difference Day to Valdosta, GA. Our goal this October 27th is to coordinate a group of 500+ local volunteers who will work together in different capacities/areas and do their individual part to help end hunger. These volunteers will be serving to process and inspect donated foods and goods at the Food Bank facility, and help with beautification efforts at the food bank. Your participation is greatly needed. Please do not miss out on Make a Difference Day 2007.
